My New York in June

June 13th - 26th 2007

June 13th was the 85th birthday of Paud's dad, the architect Kevin Roche. We managed to get a last minute table at The Spotted Pig ( thanks to the chef extraordinaire April Bloomfield whom I had met a few days earlier on a Brits abroad shoot for British Harpers Bazaar) and we had a real treat.
Last Wednesday evening in the rain saw the opening of the Hermes store on Wall Street . The afterparty was nearby at the Cunard Building. And what an afterparty. I was stunned into sensory overload and basically forgot to take any pictures until the end. The enchanted forest, revolving dancefloor and enless supply of delicious seafood were too much for me to take in one go. Plus playing guess the " customer" or "employee" took up a great deal of my evening. Fun though.
Then Sunday it was brunch with friends at the Maritime hotel, and an afternoon spent getting back to my apartment through the Gay Pride parade in the village. Phew!

Paud ( after pork rilletes and lamb heart) with Kitty and me.

Me and James Gardner amusing ourselves on a hay bale at the Hermes party.

The most stylish woman in glasses, stylist Haydee Finley Levin.

Right on my doorstep I was pleased to discover the Harlem breakdancing crew the Tranzformerz.

The girls surpass themselves.

Kitty , non-plussed, had really seen it all today.

James Brown , one of my oldest friends from London, was over for work.

I just bumped into this cute threesome on W 16th Street, on their way to their high school ( PS111) prom.

The Red Carpet

I have just had my first two red carpet moments with a couple of amazing actresses wearing my frocks; both in the same week!

Saturday afternoon roof party

Saturday 9th June 2007

Yesterday aftrnoon I went with Paud and Kitty to celebrate Chris Apple and his friend Yvette's birthday on her roof on Prince street. The Virgins and the ARE Weapons played live, whilst we all ate lobster rolls against a backdrop of the New York City skyline.

Whitney Art Party

Wednesday 6th June 2007

The annual Whitney Art Party benefit last Wednesday was held at Splashlight studios downtown, the theme this year being "Hippy Chic", reflecting the Whitney's forthcoming shows of art from the psychedelic era.
The summer of love prevailed, Jauretsi dj'd and we all ended up at the Beatrice Inn.

On the way there; jewellery designer Lisa Salzer, Kate Shelter and Magda Berliner.

Andrew and Andrew, making the effort.

Quiz Night

Wednesday 30th May 2007

Last night Jacquetta Wheeler and the 212 Society hosted a quiz night on the roof of the Gramercy Park Hotel, to raise money for Darna to aid street children and women in Morocco. A bit like a pub quiz but with a really good prize ( trip to Tangiers) the Goldman Sachs team won, narrowly beating the Valentino team even though they had Hamish Bowles and T magazine's Armand Limnander on it ( well there was a round of sports questions).

Legendary rock photographer Mick Rock and singing sensation Lilly Allen.

Girl of the night Jacquetta, who's doing such an amazing job with this charity, with me.

All American beauty Hilary Rhoda, who for one of her very first modelling jobs in New York, was shot for my first collection's lookbook, Spring 2006.

Zanna Roberts from Marie Claire, wearing my satin Playsuit from my recent Fall collection.

Jack Flanagan and Barney Clay. Uh -oh.

Lyonel Tollemache and Gemma Ward.

Tulips and Pansies

Monday 21st May 2007

Village Care of New York, the community-based charity that helps AIDS patients in need of housing and medical services, held their annual "Tulips and Pansies" flower headdress extravaganza on Monday night. The event was chaired by Mickey Boardman from Paper and Kate Shelter, and they got me on board along with a whole host of other designers, to create a flower headdress with the collaboration of floral designer. The night was a hoot; Lady Bunny DJ'd, there was a BBQ buffet, and the diversity of the crowd Paud likened to a casting call for the Poseidon Adventure!

The inimitable Kate Schelter.

Me with Janneke Verhoeven and Liz Hehir from my studio. It's all about blondes.
