I Love Beth Ditto

Tuesday 15th April 2008

Ever since I first heard "Standing in the Way of Control" early last year I've been a huge fan of the Gossip. I saw them play live for the first time on Tuesday at Webster Hall, and Wow! Beth Ditto is a superstar. I couldn't have enjoyed it more. Plus I'd coincidently just made a dress for her that week for Nylon, so when I met up with J Erricho the fashion director at the gig we piled back to meet Beth and the rest...I'm a fan.

Beth Ditto belts it out on stage, looking a stunner in Jeremy Scott.

Beth and me backstage (I'd been down front so looking slightly frazzled here)

And Beth in full swing. What a sensation. This was just before she jumped into the crowd...

Playing with the Grown Ups

Tuesday April 8th 2008

This is the title of Sophie Dahl's new novel, which is just about to come out here in the states. On Tuesday she had an intimate book launch hosted by Mens Vogue at Keens Steakhouse ( which happens to be my favourite place to escape for a quick after work drink; dating back to 1885 it was frequented by Lillie Langtry and strangely has the world largest collection of clay churchwarden pipes on the ceiling!).

The book chronicles the adventures of Kitty (total coincidence) and Marina.Sophie, who I hadn't seen since she moved back to England, looked radiant.

Sophie Dahl and Polly Devlin, writer, Vogue contributor and mum of my friend Bay Garnett

Jazz singer Jamie Cullum (Sophie's boyfriend), Zandy Forbes in Alaia and Paud Roche
