Spring!

March / April 2008

There's been a lot going on in New York over the past few weeks, with art fairs, openings, launches and benefits etc., It's been packed, fun and sweaty but it's still not warm enough for me to go out without my opaque tights on. Hell!

Anyway I've been around and about, not as snap happy as usual, but here are a few things that caught my eye in the city recently...

The gorgeous stylist Natasha Royt at Nylon's 9th Anniversary party at 1Oak on April 2nd

Two girls on the dancefloor at Beatrice.I feel a much overdue mini-crini moment coming on!

After Hope Atherton's opening at the Bortolami gallery we popped to the Deitch Gallery on Wooster for the opening of the Substraction show. Here's Olivier again, in front of artist Sterling Ruby's spray paint works.

I spent Easter with Paud's family in Connecticut.I couldn't leave out the Easter Bunny.

Me and Kristian Laliberte...strangely in the Bloomingdales mens department for another Nylon party

J Erricho and Kim looking smashing in her Katherine Hamnett Choose Life t-shirt.Whenever I see that t-shirt I always get a flashback to seeing Wham! in London at a "Junior Best Disco in Town" concert, a long time ago!

Feral!

Saturday 15th March 2008

My dear friend from London Caron Geary was over in NY as her performance artist alter ego Feral ( lead singer with Cantankerous, but this time solo) to perform at PS1 as part of the WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution. So there were a lot of issues going on here!
I just think she looked and sounded amazing( she interrupted the discussion with 3 songs, including "Di-ska-sting" and "Flesh Roast"!), I can't really begin to explain...

Feral! Staring St Patrick's Day early in her Celtic jacket at PS1

A Nice Bit of Posh...

Saturday 8th March and Tuesday 11th March 2008

"Oh golly, oh gosh come lie on the couch with a nice bit of posh from Burnham-on-Crouch"
Ian Dury and the Blockhead, "Billericay Dickie" 1977.

These have to be one of my all time favourite song lyrics, plus Burnham-on Crouch ( a small dead-end sailing village)in Essex is my home town.
When I heard that the multi talented singer-songwriter Kate Walsh, is also from Burnham, I couldn't believe it.We met up when she first came to the States and had a lot to chat about. I went to see her perform at Union Hall in Brooklyn last week and she was great.

A few days before that I'd been invited around old friend and T-magazine writer Armand Limnander's for a little get together with some Dom P and posh culinary treats. I was in fishy nibble and champagne heaven...

Kate again, singing about another dodgy boyfriend
